How to Import Vocal Presets in Logic Pro
Learn how to load professional vocal Channel Strip Settings, vocal chains and plug-in presets into Logic Pro — then customize them for your own voice and production.

A vocal preset can save you considerable setup time by loading a collection of processing settings onto your vocal channel. In Logic Pro, Channel Strip Settings can recall the routing, plug-ins and settings associated with a channel strip.
This tutorial walks you through the complete workflow, from selecting your vocal track to loading, checking and customizing the preset.
Create or Select Your Vocal Track
Open your Logic Pro project and select the audio track containing your vocal recording. For a clean workflow, rename the track something recognizable such as Lead Vocal.
Open the Logic Pro Mixer
Open the Mixer and locate the channel strip corresponding to your vocal track. The Mixer gives you access to inserts, EQ, sends, routing, faders and other channel controls.
Click the Channel Strip Setting Button
At the top of the channel strip, locate the Setting menu. This is where Logic Pro lets you load or save the complete configuration of a channel strip.
Choose User Channel Strip Settings
From the Setting menu, navigate to your user channel-strip settings. Look for the folder where your downloaded or personally created vocal presets are stored.
Select Your Vocal Preset
Click the vocal preset you want to load. A Channel Strip Setting can recall the plug-ins and settings associated with that channel.
Check Your Plug-ins
After loading the preset, inspect every plug-in in the vocal channel. If the preset was created using third-party Audio Unit plug-ins that aren't installed on your Mac, those processors may not load correctly.
Fine-Tune the Preset for Your Voice
Never assume a preset will sound perfect immediately. Every singer, microphone, room and recording level is different. Use the preset as a starting point and adjust it to your song.

BEFORE — Raw Vocal
The untreated recording may sound less controlled, with inconsistent dynamics and frequency balance.
AFTER — Vocal Chain Loaded
EQ, compression, de-essing, saturation and effects can give the vocal more clarity, consistency and character.
Loading an Individual Plug-in Preset
You don't always need a complete Channel Strip Setting. If you only want an EQ or compressor preset, open the individual plug-in and browse its available settings.
- Select the vocal channel.
- Open the desired plug-in.
- Open its preset/settings menu.
- Choose the desired preset.
- Listen to the result in the context of the song.
